Dental Silicate Ceramic for Dental Technology

The dental potential of dental silicate ceramics has been significantly enhanced in recent years through the advancement of state-of-the-art CAD technologies. The minimum thickness of dental ceramics can now be more precisely considered, ensuring a high level of stability in dental solutions.

Dental Prosthetic Material Made from Silicate Ceramic

Silicate ceramics exhibit special optical light properties. The crystalline components in the material direct light in such a way that the end product achieves a natural translucency, making the dental prosthetic material visually very similar to a natural tooth. Silicate ceramics are also referred to as glass ceramics and have lower strength compared to oxide ceramics. High-strength silicate ceramics are used for the production of inlays, onlays, and veneer.

Dental Prosthetic Material Made from Hybrid Ceramic

Typically, the amount of zirconium dioxide added to silicate ceramics is very small. Hybrid ceramics, however, are enriched with significantly more zirconium dioxide, bridging the gap between rigid ceramics and highly elastic composites. This enrichment reduces the risk of chipping in hybrid ceramics while enhancing their natural aesthetic appearance.
